Update in Orthopedic Anaesthesia

CME on "Update on Orthopaedic Anaesthesia" was conducted at Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai by the Department of Anaesthesia in collaboration with Indian College of Anaesthesiologists on 30th July 2023. Dean Dr. Sangeeta Rawat was chief guest and Dr. LD Naik (ex professor and head of department) was the guest of honor.

Dr. Deepa Kane was the organising chair.

Dr Amala Kudalkar Prof & Head Department of Anaesthesiology,Seth GSMC & KEMH delivered the welcome address.

The CME comprised lectures, case and panel discussion, a pro and con session, and videos on peripheral nerve blocks. The academic program was superb and well crafted. Each speaker spoke about recent practice guidelines, recommendations, and literature review.

The CME was attended by 200 delegates.The faculty in attendance was from both the Government and private sectors and included anaesthesiologists, intensivists, and orthopaedic surgeons. MMC (Maharashtra Medical Council) granted 2 points for the CME. The faculty discussed arthroplasty, arthroscopy, pelvi acetabular fractures, and spine surgeries. The CME highlighted every specialist's perspective and the importance of team spirit in managing these cases. The discussion extended from pediatrics to geriatrics. A team of paediatric anaesthetists covered up the finer points. 

As organising chair, Dr. Deepa Kane, spoke about the formation of the Indian College of Anaesthesiologists, its Trustees and Governing Body members, its aims, its membership, its youtube channel, its publications, the courses offered by it and events organised by it.
